Dear Sofonie,

I am writing to confirm that your studies with the University of York on the MSCTS1 in Environmental Sustainability Education and Communication programme have been discontinued. Your last date of attendance has been recorded as 12 March 2025.

If you have Student Finance funding the University will also be informing them of your last date of attendance. Be aware that the last date of attendance submitted to Student Finance is used to calculate your funding liability and can result in an overpayment.

We would strongly recommend that you speak to a member of the Student Support and advice team at student-hub@york.ac.uk if you have any queries about Student Finance overpayments.

If you are a Student Visa holding student please note that withdrawing from your studies will affect your immigration status. The University will notify the Home Office (UK Visas and Immigration) within 10 working days of this letter that you have withdrawn and that the University is no longer sponsoring you. This will result in the Home Office (UK Visas and Immigration) cancelling your Student Visa, and you will have 60 days to leave the UK. You must leave the UK before the cancellation of your Student Visa, or apply for alternative leave to remain.

Please be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure that you are not in breach of immigration regulations.

If you have any questions regarding your visa, I would advise you to urgently contact the University’s International Student Support team to seek immigration advice. To contact the team please complete the International Student Support self-referral form on the immigration advice web-pages - www.york.ac.uk/immigration.

If you are currently studying on another programme at the University of York, (for example, a Centre for Lifelong Learning or Languages for All course), this confirmation of withdrawal will not affect your status on this programme. If you require any further information please contact student-records@york.ac.uk.

Appeals against this suspension should be sent to the Academic Registrar within 48 hours (academic-registrar@york.ac.uk).

Whatever you propose to do in the future, it is likely that the University's Careers Service will have information of value to you, and I would urge you to get in touch with them. They have reciprocal arrangements with the Careers Services of other universities and it might be possible for you to get help from a service nearer your home. Further information about Careers and Placements

The University will consider refunding your tuition costs, and/or paying discretionary compensation if your programme of study is closed, suspended or significantly modified. For further information on refunds please see the Refund and Compensation policy or contact the Fees Office at fees-office@york.ac.uk for further information.

I wish you well for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Statement – Events Beginning in Early March 2025

The fact that Jen Wotherspoon removed me from a stable office and placed me in her own office without legal justification is documented and verifiable.

After that, she deleted my university registration record. She then cancelled my CAS and contacted the Home Office in order to have my visa cancelled.

These actions are not allegations — they are documented. She wrote letters stating that she intended to take these steps, and after carrying them out, she sent additional letters confirming that she had done so. All of this occurred at the beginning of March 2025.

Once others became aware of the injustice, she was required to pay my student benefits. However, her department did not have the necessary funds. Following this, she began what I experienced as a campaign of harassment against me.

I was subjected to daily intimidation. Individuals were sent to my residence at Wentworth student accommodation in an attempt to threaten me and pressure me to leave my accommodation, which had already been paid for one year. I suspect that this woman has been contacting individuals described as “wizards” in Angola with the intention of disturbing me. I request that the UK government investigate all possible harmful activities carried out by both Jen Wotherspoon and Jenny Underhill in collaboration with Angolan individuals. So far, they remotely have stolen and blocked three of my phones, accessed and taken my personal content, and requested banks and network operators to delete my UK accounts, bank cards, and mobile phone numbers without any prior notice. Most recently, my HSBC account was closed this week without any warning or explanation.

Notification of Enforced Leave of Absence for Sofonie Dala (302058798/1)

Dear Sofonie,

Following our meeting on 26 February, 2025 I am writing to confirm that the Academic

Registrar has approved the recommendation that your registration be suspended until the

beginning of Semester 2 of the 2025/6 academic years under the Support to Study

Procedure.

The suspension will be effective from today, the 12th of March 2025. During the period

between today and 2 February 2026:

● You will not be expected to engage in study and the time will not count towards your

registration period for your course.

● You will retain access to Library and IT resources but will not be expected to attend

campus regularly.

● You will not be eligible to remain resident at the University beyond the notice period

given by the Accommodation office (8 weeks). If you wish to vacate your

accommodation before this period expires, the Accommodation office has agreed to

waive any charges beyond the date you vacate. The Accommodation office will be in

touch with you directly to confirm this.

In order to return to study, you will need to engage in Support to Study, in order to formulate

a return to study plan, in order to ensure that you are willing and able to engage in study

safely.

You have the right to appeal this decision under Regulation 6.7 by following the Student

Academic Appeals Procedure within 28 days of the date of this letter. You can be supported

through this process by Yorksu's Advice and Support Centre if you would like.

I realise that this is likely to be difficult for you and urge you to make use of all the support

available to you during this period of transition. If you have any questions about this

process, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind Regards,

Jen Wotherspoon

Those who carry their own light disturb those who choose to live in darkness. Racism may cancel your visa and steal your money, but it will never extinguish the light that God placed in your heart the day you were born. I love being a Black woman with my own light.
