God I’m still counting my blessings
This year’s Global MIL Week theme, “Minds Over AI: MIL in Digital Spaces,” highlights the growing need for critical thinking and ethical awareness in an age where artificial intelligence increasingly shapes news, communication, and content creation. MIL empowers individuals to question sources, understand algorithms, and make informed decisions in an AI-driven digital landscape.
The day also marks the birthday of Sofonie Dala, founder of a global digital platform dedicated to developing solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. For the past five years, her platform has been serving audiences worldwide with life-changing, easily accessible digital content.
To celebrate this special occasion, volunteer and singer Filismina prepared a touching musical tribute, performing “Contando Minhas BΓͺnçãos” by Brazilian artist Isadora Pompeo, along with its English version, “Counting My Blessings.”
Having visited cities across the globe, Sofonie Dala is delighted that this meaningful day coincides with her birthday. She emphasizes that the human brain depends on high-quality information to function optimally — and that the information people engage with shapes their perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes. Whether through media, libraries, archives, or digital platforms, informed engagement remains key to building a thoughtful and ethical society.
As the world celebrates cities, information literacy, and creativity — and others enjoy the spirit of Halloween — this day also honors Sofonie Dala, a visionary leader inspiring global citizens to think critically, act ethically, and create lasting positive impact in the digital age. ππ‘✨
