Greetings, everyone!

Sofonie Dala is thrilled to share a special milestone—on 31 July 2025, she officially reached 300 hours of volunteer work dedicated to student community engagement and sustainability impact.

What makes this moment particularly meaningful is the seamless alignment of purpose and partnership. Sofonie began her volunteer journey on 27 October 2024 with TCV (The Conservation Volunteers), and fittingly, she completed her 300th hour also with TCV—bringing her full circle.

She expresses deep gratitude to the UK-based organizations that warmly welcomed her, provided training, and even equipped her with a work uniform. A heartfelt thank you goes out to:

  • TCV (The Conservation Volunteers)

  • Friends of Kilburn Grange Park (through Chevening), London

  • Ouseburn Charity Trust Newcastle (through Chevening)

  • Yorkits

  • SOS-UK

  • St Nicks Nature Reserve  & Environment Centre

  • Tang Hall Community Centre

  • The Ramblers

  • York St John University Allotment

    • University of Cambridge

      Friends of Scarcroft

    • Churches and Foodbanks

The University of York too — it was vibrant, exciting, and colourful — though she keeps the total hours to herself.

She also extends sincere appreciation to those she didn’t directly volunteer with but had meaningful interactions through meetings and interviews, such as Commonwealth, Rowntree Park, RAY and Edible York—especially Mr. Bill.

This milestone is not only a personal achievement but also a celebration of community collaboration and sustainability in action.
