A Tale of Two Global Citizens: Prince Harry is in Angola

An Emotional Encounter with a Familiar Mission

Sofonie Dala, a passionate young woman from Angola, is currently navigating life in the United Kingdom. She devotes her time to volunteering with several eco-friendly and sustainability organizations, all focused on building a sustainable future for the next generations.

This moment reaffirms what Sofonie believes about global citizenship: it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or where you are—your efforts to improve the world count. Whether in Angola or the UK, the work is connected. One person clears a path for children to walk safely; another helps ensure those children grow up in a world where clean air, water, and green spaces still exist.

Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Advocating for safety and well-being through landmine clearance.
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Supporting safer, greener communities.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Promoting sustainable lifestyles through eco-volunteering.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action – Driving local and global efforts to combat climate change.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Demonstrating how diverse efforts—from royals to grassroots volunteers—can unite under a common mission.

The True Meaning of Global Citizenship

Remember: global citizenship isn’t defined by nationality or location, but by action. Whether in Angola or the UK, every effort matters. Their work is connected—one step toward safety, another toward sustainability—but both leading to a better future for all.
