A Magical Christmas Journey at York Minster – 70 Trees, Endless Wonders!

Christmas Tree Festival

Greetings everyone!

My name is Sofonie Dala, and I’m a proud Chevening Scholar studying in the UK. Today, I want to share an unforgettable experience that truly captured the magic of Christmas—York Minster’s Christmas Tree Festival!

I couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit this breathtaking celebration of light, hope, and creativity before it ends today. Imagine walking into the magnificent medieval cathedral, where 70 stunning Christmas trees stand tall, each one uniquely decorated by some of the city’s biggest contributors—local businesses, schools, and charities.

As I strolled through the Nave, Chapter House, and the Lady Chapel, the glowing lights and intricate designs told stories of community, unity, and holiday spirit. Visitors could even add their own messages to the prayer trees, leaving wishes of peace and joy for the season.

The festival opened with a magical light switch-on ceremony for families and children and has been spreading festive cheer ever since. And guess what? It’s been shortlisted for the Little Viking’s Awards 2025 as York’s Best Christmas Experience!

So, don’t miss this chance—watch a 11-minute exploration video featuring these incredible trees, their heartfelt messages, and the beauty of York Minster dressed in its Christmas finest.
